As any Mini owner knows, the factory, iron sights are "fair" at best. The new, post 2006 iron sights are a big improvement. In our opinion, there are no good iron sights available for the Mini-14, Mini-30, or Ranch Rifle. The best sight for these guns is either a low powered scope or a "red dot" type sight. We've listed here some excellent sight alternatives to install on a Mini: tritium dot and/or red dot sights (a.k.a. holographic or electronic sights). The models that will mount in Ruger's factory-issued 1" scope rings are: AALUDB, AALUDS, AALFOURDT00B, AALFOURDT00S. All of the others need to be mounted to a Weaver type rail, as found on the BSQ14502, BSQ14506, BSQ14507, and BSQ14508 mounts.
